Roots
This is my double exposure. I decided to use a picture of trees because it matched my selfie that I made at the start of the class, since that one had a tree in the background too. I chose the quote "Be the light that helps others see" because the sun shines through giving the double exposure a cool effect. This picture is better than my selfie because it has more depth, and has more meaning. My selfie was very flat and had no effects.
Tree of Memories
In my photograph, I wanted to show important things in my life represented as a tree. When people see it, they will know what is important to me right away. This is the tree of my life and memories. My first layer is of a pear tree in my backyard. I have lived in one house all my life, so this tree has been around a long time and reminds me of home. In the next layer, I have my selfie. I wanted to make it look like the tree was apart of me, and the objects I like are the leaves of my life. I added a picture of my dog on the next layer, because she is very important to me. I love her very much and I have had her since I was only four years old. She is dressed up in St. Patrick's day attire, which represents how my family is Irish. Then, I added a picture of my running shoes growing on the branches. I am on the track and cross country team at Skyline, and I love to run with my friends. Being on the track and cross country team has been a big part of my life and it makes me very happy. Finally, I have a polaroid of my dog and I. This represents our strong relationship. In photoshop, I changed the opacity of my photos, to make it more interesting to look at. I made my selfie have a low opacity, so the tree was visible through my body. I used different blending modes as well, to make certain parts stand out. This photo is my tree of memories.
